Roofing & Remodeling in Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge housing stock is split, and the roof work splits with it. In Mid City and the Garden District we are usually on steeper pitches over older decking, and the tear-off often turns up two or three previous layers plus plank sheathing that needs partial replacement before anything new goes down. We price that as a possibility up front instead of surprising you with a change order on day two.

South of Florida Boulevard the pattern is different: 1990s and 2000s subdivisions where builder-grade three-tab shingles are reaching end of life at roughly the same time across whole streets. Those are straightforward replacements, and they are where a FORTIFIED-standard install, sealed deck, ring-shank nailing, better edge detail, earns its cost against the next named storm.

Heat and humidity do the rest of the damage here. Algae streaking on north-facing slopes, brittle pipe boots at eight to ten years, and attics that run hot enough to age the shingle from underneath when the ridge and soffit ventilation was never balanced. We check ventilation on every inspection, because replacing a roof without fixing it just shortens the new one.

Since August 2025 Louisiana requires a permit and geotagged photo documentation for every reroof. In East Baton Rouge Parish that runs through the parish permitting system at MGOCONNECT.ORG, and it is our job, not yours: we pull the permit, upload the documentation and keep the record with your warranty paperwork.

It is worth knowing because it is also a filter. A crew that cannot pull a permit in this parish is not licensed to be on your roof, and the photo requirement is exactly the paperwork that storm-chasing outfits skip. Ask anyone quoting your roof who is pulling the permit before you sign.

One note on grants: the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program covers a list of eligible parishes, and East Baton Rouge is not on it. If your property is in Livingston, Ascension or Iberville Parish, ask us, that changes the maths on a FORTIFIED upgrade.
