The certification
Four requirements, reviewed every year
Most roofing 'certifications' in this market are a registration form and a fee. This one is not, which is the only reason it is worth a page.
Properly licensed
A verifiable state contractor licence, checked by GAF, not self-reported. Ours is issued by the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors and covers both roofing and building work.
Adequately insured
Active general liability and workers' compensation, maintained continuously. Lapse the coverage and the certification goes with it.
Proven reputation
A documented record of completed work and customer satisfaction that GAF reviews annually. This is the requirement that keeps the number under 2%.
Ongoing training
Continued education on installation systems and warranty requirements, because the assemblies and the code both change.

What certification changes about your coverage
The practical difference is not the shingle, anyone can buy GAF shingles. It is which warranty can be registered on your roof.

Coverage terms are set by GAF and depend on the exact components installed. We put the specific warranty your roof qualifies for in the estimate, in writing, before you sign anything.
Verify it
How to check any contractor's claim
- Search GAF's contractor directory for the company name and your ZIP code. Master Elite status is listed there or it does not exist.
- Ask for the Louisiana licence number and look it up with the State Licensing Board for Contractors. A certification without an active state licence is meaningless.
- Request the insurance certificate sent directly from their carrier, not a PDF forwarded by the salesperson.
- Ask who pulls the permit. Every Louisiana reroof has required a permit and geotagged photo documentation since August 2025. If they hesitate, stop there.
